Crown Jewel Sample Club

The Crown Jewel Sample Club is a quarterly green coffee subscription for quality-focused roasters. Each box contains five 200-gram samples of Crown Jewel micro-lots, selected by the tasting team at The Crown: Royal Coffee Lab & Tasting Room.

Crown Jewels are among the most distinctive small lots we import, chosen for cultivar, processing, and cup quality. Over the course of the year, expect the full range of the program: rare cultivars such as Gesha, Pink Bourbon, and Sudan Rume; experimental coffees using methods such as anaerobic maceration and fruit co-fermentation; and benchmark washed and natural lots that express an origin at its best.

How it works

1. Receive four samples. Boxes ship in October, January, April, and July. Each contains four 200-gram Crown Jewel samples selected by the Crown Jewel team. 

2. Roast, cup, compare. Use the printed card and the full taste, roast, and brew analysis published for each Crown Jewel. 

3. Buy the ones you love. Some of the featured Crown Jewels are available in 22-pound boxes while supplies last.

Members receive a shipping confirmation when each box is on the way.

The Sample Club

Two hundred grams is enough green coffee to roast several small batches: enough to dial in a profile, cup the results, and decide whether a coffee deserves a full 22-pound box.

FAQ

Where do you ship?

The Sample Club is available within the contiguous United States. We do not currently ship Sample Club boxes to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, or other international destinations.

Are the samples green or roasted?

All samples are green coffee and must be roasted before brewing.

What equipment do I need? 

You need a way to roast green coffee. Home drum roasters, air roasters, and sample roasters all work. Roast information for each Crown Jewel is available on royalcoffee.com.

How much coffee is in each shipment? 

Each shipment containsfour 200-gram samples, one kilogram of green coffee in total.

How often will I receive a shipment? 

Four times a year: October, January, April, and July.

When will I be charged? 

Quarterly members are charged $85 at enrollment and then on September 1, December 1, March 1, and June 1 for each following shipment.

Will every sampled coffee be available to purchase?

It's always our intent to send you available Crown Jewel coffees to purchase, but these are limited micro-lots and availability can change quickly.

Is shipping included?

Yes. Standard shipping within the contiguous United States is included.

What information comes with the samples? 

Each shipment includes a printed card describing the four coffees. Full taste, roast, and brew information is available on royalcoffee.com.

Can I choose the coffees?

No. The Crown Jewel team selects the four coffees in each shipment.

Can I return a Sample Club box? 

Sample Club boxes are not returnable or exchangeable. If a box arrives damaged or contains the wrong items, contact us.

Can I cancel my membership?

Quarterly members may cancel any time before the next charge date.

Can I skip a shipment? 

No. Quarterly members may cancel before the next charge date and rejoin later.
