India Chickmagalur Estate coffee is sourced from the Chickmagalur Estate located near Baba Budangiri hills in the Chickmagalur district within the state of Karnataka, India. The Chickmagalur Estate was established in 1933 and covers 1400 acres in the Western Ghats mountain range, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biologically diverse places in the world with more than 5000 species of flowering plants and 508 different species of birds. The coffee growing region is named after the Sufi saint (Baba Budan) who first cultivated coffee in India with seven raw beans from Mocha, brought back during his pilgrimage to Mecca in the 17th century.
