Amid the concerns about COVID-19 and the statewide shelter in place directive, we want to keep you updated on the steps that we are taking to safeguard our operations, customers, and team. The safety and well-being of our community are, as always, our priority.
Fortunately, coffee is classified as a food by the FDA and therefore we are considered an essential business. Our warehouses remain open and the Royal team is still at work. Our day-to-day operations have changed significantly as nearly our entire team made the transition to working from home on March 16th. Our Quality Control operations are still happening, albeit with a pared down team of senior traders and our cofounder to further reduce potential points of transmission. While Royal has always practiced strict and consistent cleanliness and hygiene policies, we have adopted further safety measures and increasing the frequency with which we clean and disinfect all surfaces at the office, warehouse, and The Crown.
We elected to close The Crown: Royal Coffee Lab & Tasting Room on March 14th and it will remain closed until at least July 2020. We are happy to share that The Crown team and baristas are working from home on educational content and other coffee projects. For anyone picking up orders to our Oakland Warehouse: we are requiring you to wear a mask for the safety of our warehouse team and in accordance with Alameda County law.
We aren’t expecting any delays getting orders out of our Oakland warehouse at this time. We must advise that you be prepared for possible delays however. If your order is delayed, we will notify you via email, with as much notice as possible. Our best advice: make sure that you are well stocked with your essentials.
