Mexico Coatepec Puente Nuevo Semi Washed Marsellesa

This lot comes from a new sourcing partner for Royal called APG Coffee, located in Veracruz, Mexico.  APG is not new to coffee exporting.  Rather, it was founded more than 30 years ago by Antonio Perez Galvan, hence the initials APG that form the name of the company.  But things are changing at APG thanks to a pair of great grandchildren, Ernesto Perez and his sister Givette who have created strategies for lot separation to bring forward specialty lots. And Royal is pleased to be the beneficiary of some amazing coffee from the Veracruz region.

Sourcing details

This lot comes from family farm called Finca Puente Nuevo owned by Givette Orea Perez- Redondo Ernesto and Givette’s mother. Finca Puente Nuevo is located along the Pixquiacan river, an important source of water for the region. Puente Nuevo was previously a cattle ranch and the transition to coffee started in 2022.

Processing Details

This honey processed lot begins with meticulous cherry selection of Marsellesa varietal. starting with sorting and floating cherries to remove any damaged coffee.  Next the cherries are depulped and moved to patios to dry while the mucilage remains attached to the bean. The coffee seeds only remain on the patio long enough to remove excess water and then are placed in elevated tables and finally finish the drying process in mechanical driers to ensure precise control in reducing the moisture to 11 percent.  The dried coffee is stored in Grainpro cocoons until it is time to mill.  The milling and preparation is done at the APG dry mill, meaning the coffee enjoys personal care from farm to export.
