Looking for a Colombian with a beach view? The Santa Marta Sierra Nevada in the department of Magdalena is a Caribbean coastal range distinct from the Andes range that makes up the majority of Colombia’s coffeelands. From the beach town of Santa Marta, the trek to Bonda is close.  This is where Asociacion de productores de la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta ASOTAYRONACA works with coffee producers. The tight-knit group cultivates coffee on farms that average 5 acres in size. Small enough for each producer in the group to manage their own micro-mill where meticulous care in cherry selection, depulping, fermenting, and drying coffee takes place.  Similarly, bananas, corn and avocado trees grown alongside the coffee for local consumption.
