Anain Cortes produced this micro-lot on a 28-acre farm called Las Fuentes located in the community of Rancho Quemado within the municipality of San Andres in the department of Lempira. Anain inherited Las Fuentes from his father in 2013 and in 2014 Anain added new coffee varietals Catuai and Lempira to his farm. He uses his own micro-mill to process harvested cherries, which allows for meticulous care in depulping, fermenting, and drying the coffee.
Exporting Details:
Anain collaborates with an export company called BICAFE, which operates a warehouse and dry-mill in Santa Rosa de Copan. Weather conditions in Santa Rosa are ideal for storing parchment and the dry-mill is specifically designed for preparing micro-lots. The partnership has helped to improve quality, increase earnings from coffee sales, and strengthen the family’s livelihood.
