Coffee Background

COSTA RICA FTO LAS GRAVILEAS TARRAZU GRAINPRO is sourced from a family-owned estate located near the community of Frailes in the Tarrazu growing region within the province of San José, Costa Rica.  The 6-acre farm, called Las Gravileas, has been in the Marin Jimenez, family for four generation. Roberto Marin owns and manages the family farm, where he credits farm management practices for the quality of his coffee. Roberto maintains a shade to sun ratio of 50 percent to ensure longer cherry maturation times. He also uses 200 pounds of organic fertilizer per hectare and sprays organic fertilizers on the coffee plants three times a year. Las Gravileas also has its own micro-mill where cherry selection, fermentation, depulping, and drying are meticulously executed.
