Coffee Background

EL SALVADOR FTO LAS COLINAS SHG EP is sourced from Asociacion Cooperativa de Produccion Agropecuaria Las Colinas (ACOPALCO), a cooperative that was founded in 1980 and has 89 members from the community of Las Colinas, located in the municipality of Tacuba, department of Ahuachapan, El Salvador. ACOPALCO members collectively own the 490 acre estate where they continue to produce coffee with a sense of deep tradition. ACOPALCO has a wet and dry mill facility that is best described as classical, perfectly maintained but certainly built a generation ago. ACOPALCO also has a deep respect for workers. During the harvest coffee pickers are provided meals in addition to their daily wage. The tradition of had sorting coffee has also been preserved and provides employment for women.
