Coffee Background

Ethiopia Yirgacheffe 1 Washed Gedeb Alemu Bukato GrainPro is sourced from 700 family owned farms located within the Gedeb District in the Gedeo Zone, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region, Ethiopia. 700 coffee farmers deliver ripe cherries to the Alemu Bukato’s washing station where they are carefully sorted, depulped, fermented, washed, and then placed on raised beds designed to ensure proper air circulation and temperature control for an optimal drying process. Coffee is turned regularly on the beds to prevent damage during the drying process. Coffee is stored in a local warehouse after the moisture is reduced to between 11.5 and 12 percent. Then the beans are transported to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, to be milled and bagged prior to export.
