Coffee Background

Honduras Alfonso Polanco SHG EP Grainpro is sourced from Alfonso Polanco and his five-member family. Alfonso produced this coffee on his 69-acre farm located in the municipality of Lucerna within the department of Ocotepeque, Honduras. Alberto has been farming for 10 years and uses his own mill to processes harvested cherries, which allows for meticulous care in depulping, fermenting, and drying the coffee. In addition to producing coffee, Alfonso cultivates trees to harvest the wood. Alfonso collaborates with an export company called BICAFE, which operates a warehouse and dry-mill in Santa Rosa de Copan. Weather conditions in Santa Rosa are ideal for storing parchment and the dry-mill is specifically designed for sorting high quality micro-lots. The partnership has helped to improve quality, increase earnings from coffee sales, and strengthen the family’s livelihood.
