Background Details

Honduras Copan Efrain Alvarado SHG EP is sourced from Efrain Alvarado and his six member family. Efrain produced this coffee on his 103-acre farm called Santa Cruz located in the community of Santa Cruz in the municipality of La Unión within the department of Copán, Honduras. Efrain has been farming for 12 years and uses his own mill to processes harvested cherries, which allows for meticulous care in depulping, fermenting, and drying the coffee. Efrain collaborates with an export company called BICAFE, which operates a warehouse and dry-mill in Santa Rosa de Copan. Weather conditions in Santa Rosa are ideal for storing parchment and the dry-mill is specifically designed for sorting high quality micro-lots. The partnership has helped to improve quality, increase earnings from coffee sales, and strengthen the family’s livelihood.
