Coffee Background

Guatemala Antigua San Juan Estate 46 Kg GrainPro is sourced from a family owned farm located near the city of Antigua within the department of Sacatepéquez, Guatemala.  Coffee produced in the Antigua region has a protected designation of origin (PDO) because of Antigua’s renowned coffee reputation. Elizabeth Hegel de Figuera and Eduardo Figueroa own the San Juan Estate and Luis Pedro Zelaya, a fourth-generation coffee farmer, manages the farm and processes the coffee. With over 100 years of family knowledge and a formal education in agronomy, Luis Pedro has the unique ability to bring tradition and innovation together. At the coffee mill it is easy to see traditional fermentation, while at the same time, cutting edge drying techniques practiced in a recently constructed solar dryer with three tiers of drying beds and sensors to precisely manage temperature.
