Coffee Background

Looking for an award-winning coffee from an exquisite growing region and grown by a next generation producer? Oscar Daza put his family’s estate on the international coffee map with a plus 90 cup score and an eighth-place finish in the 2019 Northern Colombian Cup of Excellence. A spectacular result, but Oscar’s success and dedication runs much deeper. Perhaps the location of their 260-acre farm called La Pradera, in the municipality of Aratoca within the department of Santander, is worthy of some discussion. Oscar is proud of his family’s role in pioneering the organic movement in the Santander region. La Pradera in particular has gone through a 60-year transformation from simi-desert to a canopy of forest and fruit trees. Oscar has also implemented exquisite processing protocols that include meticulous cherry selection and innovative drying strategies. The Daza family is also committed to investing in the wellbeing of their employees. The farm now also has treated drinking water, renovated lodging facilities, and a soccer field. They are also contributing to a school program called the Pilos del Café where students are learning research methodologies for coffee exporting and environmental protection.
