Coffee Background

SUMATRA FT-FLO/USA ORGANIC PERMATA GAYO MANDHELING GRADE 1 is sourced from family-owned farms organized around the Permata Gayo Cooperative located in Permata in the Bener Meriah regency within Aceh province on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. This region of Indonesia is referred to as the Gayo land because the coffee farmers are from the Gayonese ethnic group. The Permata Gayo Cooperative accesses the international coffee markets for farmers to have a greater earning capacity from direct trade relationships. The Permata Gayo Cooperative has also invested in coffee processing equipment to improve quality, and food assistance initiatives to ensure food security in their communities.
