This coffee is sourced from family-owned farms organized around Grupo Giraldo Exotico de Altura, a producer association with 81 members who live in the communities of Sierra, Sierrita y Cuajarón within the municipality of Giraldo in the department of Antioquia, Colombia. Grupo Giraldo Exotico de Altura was established in 2008 to focus on quality coffee production and to establish direct trade relationships. Grupo Giraldo Exotico de Altura works directly with Cooperativa de Caficultores del Occidente de Antioquia, a regional umbrella cooperative that supports producers through programs like the pilot farm project, which organizes annual visits to model farms in other regions of Colombia. Women in the Grupo Giraldo Exotico de Altura association have also formed a group to bring more recognition to their participation in the coffee industry.
