
Royal Coffee is proud to present the Crown on the Road, a series of free events anticipating the opening of The Crown: Royal Coffee Lab & Tasting Room.
We have teamed up with the Swiss Water® Coffee Taste Experience for a three day pop up inside this unique coffee without caffeine event.
Royal will take over the second floor for an elevated coffee experience, featuring coffee service, classes, cuppings and events.
During this session, Mike Strumpf and Chris Kornman will lead discussion and an informal tasting. Conversation will focus on the critical role of drying coffee both before and after decaffeination. Topics covered will include in-depth analysis of the concept of water activity and it’s relevance to the coffee world, as well as an overview of decaffeination and the patented methods employed by Swiss Water to craft coffee without caffeine.

About the Presenters
Chris Kornman, Royal Coffee, Inc.:
Chris recently relocated to Oakland, California, to help develop an education and lab program for The Crown: Royal Coffee Lab and Tasting Room. Over the past decade he’s logged extensive travel through the coffee lands across East Africa and Brazil. His career includes experience as a cupper, roaster, educator, musician, and writer.
Mike Strumpf, Swiss Water:
Mike Strumpf is a Licensed Q Grader, SCAA Instructor, SCAA Competitions Committee Member, Cup Tasters Pathway Committee Member, and Head Judge for the World Barista Championship. A right handed native of California, Mike immerses himself in Canadian pop music and squash when not chasing after his three dogs.
