Japanese Tea + Sweets at The Crown with Roots and Craft Tea Roasters and Studio Miyabi
Join us for delightful Japanese confections and fine tea from the Miyazaki prefecture
What better way to spend a Saturday morning than with sweet treats and delicious brews?
This week: Beautiful traditional Japanese sweets (wagashi) from Studio Miyabi and tea from Roots and Craft Tea Roasters!
Roots and Craft Tea Roasters – Japanese Tea
Roots and Craft imports the finest Japanese tea into San Francisco. The tea comes from Miyazaki prefecture and is organic, single origin, and small batch, (first flash). All of the teas are sourced directly from reliable growers. Roots and Craft invests heavily in our relationships and visit our farms several times each year, focusing on the “terroir” from specific regions and growers, and the incredible soil in Japan.
Studio Miyabi – Wagashi
Studio Miyabi makes Japanese confections naturally in California using traditional techniques with no white sugar or artificial colors. In-season, locally sourced ingredients are hand crafted to express the spirit of the natural world in both the form and flavor of the treat. Traditional techniques and modern sensibilities come together to experiment with new sweets that more people can enjoy.

About Grounds for Health
Since 1996, Grounds for Health has worked in Latin America and Africa to address one of the most significant disparities in women’s health globally. Cervical cancer is a nearly 100% treatable disease, and yet in the next 15 years it is expected to kill six million women – 90% of whom will live in developing countries. We specialize in working in communities that represent the base of global supply chains such as coffee, tea, cut flowers and cocoa. We are a mission-driven, international non-profit organization, born out of and with enduring ties to the coffee industry, and focused on increasing coverage of cervical cancer prevention services.
We cannot wait to host you in our Tasting Room, at the Cupping Table or for a Coffee Course.
One of the special things about The Crown is that we are located in the heart of Uptown Oakland – a veritable paradise for coffee lovers & foodies alike. However, parking is limited in the area, and we highly encourage public transportation or ride sharing. Below are some resources to help you plan your visit.
