34596 – Uganda Organic RFA Bugisu 15+ GrainPro is a fully washed and sundried coffee from the Mount Elgon region of Eastern Uganda, very close to the Kenyan border. This often overlooked origin is the birthplace of Robusta, but these days an increasing number of producers are crafting some really special and unique Arabicas. This multi-certification coffee is sourced from family owned farms located in the Bugisu region on the slopes of Mount Elgon in the Kapchorwa district, almost over the border into Kenya. The Bugisu region is named after the Bugisu people who are indigenous to this area. The Sipi Falls coffee project, named after a trio of majestic waterfalls, was established in 1999 to strengthen quality coffee production in the region and create a sustainable income for farmers. 34596 – Uganda Organic RFA Bugisu 15+ is a bargain buy; it’s organic, Rainforest Alliance certified and it has a lovely subtle watermelon and raspberry flavor with a tootsie-roll and chocolate graham cracker backbone and a subtle warmth that reminded us of spiced rum.

High moisture required steady and gentle heat application. The 34596 –  Uganda Organic RFA Bugisu 15+ GrainPro performed solidly at several roast levels. Posted below is a nice medium roast, pulled just before second crack. The result of which was beautifully balanced with several jammy fruit acids and a sweet vanilla base.
