Background Details

Finca La Esperanza is a family owned farm located in the municipality of Palestina within the department of Huila, Colombia. Guillermo Mompotes has managed his family’s 10-acre farm for the last 25 years, a responsibility his parents passed on to him to support his 5 siblings. La Esperanza has its own micro-mill where Guillermo processes harvested cherries, which allows for meticulous care in depulping, fermenting, and drying the coffee. Guillermo collaborates with an exporting company called Inconexus to gain access to technical support for best agricultural practices. The partnership has helped to improve quality, increase earnings from coffee sales, and strengthen his family’s livelihood.
