Background Details

This coffee is sourced from family-owned farms located in the community of El Zarzal in the municipality of El Tambo within the department of Cauca, Colombia. The producers (Maria Alejandra Trujillo and Miller Astaiza Perenguez) are a husband and wife team who collaborate with an export company called Banexport to gain access to technical support for best agricultural practices. They each own a farm (El Recuerdo and Nueva Esperanza) and share a micro-mill where cherry selection, depulping, fermentation, and drying are meticulously executed. The couple takes great pride in their abilities to manage their farms for the benefit of their family’s livelihoods.
