Background Details

This coffee is sourced from the Marcelino Estate located in the municipality of Izalco within the department of Sonsonate, El Salvador. The Cooperativa de Producción Agropecuaria Ataisi de R.L. (Ataisi) owns and operates the 4000-acre estate, which has 300 acres of land in use for coffee cultivation. The Marcelino Estate has a milling facility on site with an environmentally friendly water conserving wet mill, large patio drying capacity, and a dry mill, which provides Ataisi full control of the process from cherry selection to export. Ataisi also maximizes the size of the estate with other crops including sugarcane production and recent investments for cocoa production. Ataisi also has eco-tourism facilities, which includes cabins, a conference hall, and restaurant.
