AUGUST 24TH-28TH 2016

Email Mayra Orellana-Powell by August 17th, 2016 to reserve your spot mpowell@royalcoffee.com

Royal Coffee is partnering with Inconexus to sponsor a cupping contest and auction in Nariño, Colombia. We expect this event to be a repeat of last year’s success at Mejor de Tolima. This year’s event, Mejor de Nariño, is an opportunity to support Colombia’s Responde initiatives; a program designed to help a nation move beyond conflict and showcase its emerging coffee regions.

Mejor de Nariño will begin with 200 coffees assembled from the best of the recent harvest throughout Nariño. The Inconexus team will cup and identify between 30 and 50 of the highest scoring coffees, all single farm lots ranging in size from 10 to 20 bags with a minimum SCAA score of 86 points.

On August 24th, a panel of international judges will gather in Nariño for to identify the top micro-lots. In last year’s Tolima competition, roasters from Extracto, Batdorf and Bronson, Verve and Intelligentsia along with cuppers from the FNC(Colombian Coffee Federation), the Coffee Collective and Royal Coffee arrived in Tolima for the final evaluation. Want to taste some of the best Nariño has to offer?

We loved last year’s results and brought in the top 15 lots from the Mejor de Tolima competition to our Seattle position. We can’t wait to see what this year will bring.

After three rounds of evaluation over two days (August 25th and 26th), the top 20 Nariño selections will be available for purchase by auction on August 27th. The farmers will be in attendance, ready to celebrate with the very roasters buying their coffee. We hope you can join us too!

In addition to cupping 30 to 50 of the best coffees in the Nariño region of Colombia, international guests will have comfortable accommodations right by the cupping event. Guests can also enjoy daily excursions to visit Nariño farms. This isn’t an opportunity you’ll want to pass up.

On August 28th, visitors will depart or have the option to stay an additional day and visit the farm where they purchased coffee.

If your company is ready to add a new relationship to your menu then make plans to join us! While there, you’ll have the chance to evaluate and purchase some great coffee.
